The block valve stops the flow, while the bleed valve releases trapped pressure or fluid between the block and the downstream system. In double block and bleed (DBB) configurations, two block valves and one bleed valve offer added safety, ensuring complete isolation and pressure relief.

These valves are vital for maintenance, pressure testing, and emergency shutdowns, allowing safe access to the system by preventing leaks and releasing hazardous fluids or gases from the isolated section.
